How Automation Works

DentDock's automation engine runs in the background and triggers SMS messages based on rules you define. For example: send a reminder 24 hours before an appointment, or a follow-up message 3 days after a completed visit. You set the rule once, and it runs automatically.

Pro Tip: Automated reminders significantly reduce no-shows without any manual effort from your team.

Creating an Automation Rule

Go to Settings › Organization › SMS and look for the Automation section. Choose a trigger event (appointment confirmed, appointment completed, etc.), set the delay, and write the message template. Save and it's active.

Using Template Variables

Your automation messages can include dynamic fields like the patient name, appointment date, doctor name, and clinic name. Use placeholders like {patient_name} or {appointment_date} and DentDock will fill them in automatically for each message.

Note: Keep automation messages short. Long SMS may be split into multiple messages and cost more balance.

Monitoring Automated Messages

Every automated SMS is logged in SMS › SMS Logs just like manual messages. Check the logs if you suspect a rule isn't firing — it will show the exact status of each automated send.
